EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Many thanks for taking the time to visit my page. A bit about myself – I am a degree-qualified counsellor here in Birmingham. I have been working in mental health for over twenty years assisting people to manage their anxiety and depression and to help them achieve a fulfilling and enjoyable life.
My previous role as a manager for Rethink (Mental Health Charity) gave me significant insight and understanding into mental illness. For the last 25 years, I have assisted people with mental health issues, to improve their lives. This experience ranges from people with serious mental health conditions to those who are experiencing low mood, anxiety and depression. My current role, outside of private practice, is as an IAPT psychological wellbeing practitioner with the NHS.
I am an Integrative Counsellor – which basically means I use an array of techniques to assist my clients deal with issues they may be experiencing. The types of techniques I use come from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person Centred and Gestalt approaches through a variety of theories to inform my practice such as Transactional Analysis, Jungian and Solution-Focused. My model is about creating the most effective therapeutic approach for each individual person.
I offer a warm and friendly approach in a welcoming, supportive and safe environment. I chose to work from Solihull Wellbeing Clinic due to the lovely stylish and contemporary rooms. The centre has ample parking space and is situated close to Waitrose in Hall Green.
