Matthew Black
Psychotherapeutic Counsellor

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Hello, my name is Matthew, and I am a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. I am an associate member with the National Counselling Society (NCS)  and I currently work as a bereavement volunteer with Cruse Birmingham.

I have been working as a GP referral qualified instructor, within a leisure centre for over 12 years. I enjoy working with clients who come for support with light exercise and provide a safe place to socially interact, which, for some, is just as beneficial as the exercise plans I put together for them. I have found that exercise for even one hour per week can make marked differences in mood, which is truly rewarding to see.

My interests include helping others to restore and maintain a balance in their life. So, if I can help you, the listening / talking therapies I continue to study, may help you unravel the issues that you face, and we can do this together. You are always welcome to walk through my door. Personally, I like staying healthy, managing my own mental health and wellbeing, without pushing myself past my own physical limits. I engage in motor sports, trail cycling, light trail running and I am generally interested in the way things work, which can cover a wide variety of topics.

I have a genuine desire to help where I can, to preserve mental wellbeing.
