EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

I have worked with adults and young people for many years.  I believe if we are given a space that is safe and our voice is heard we have the ability within ourselves to heal and grow. I am dedicated to working in a therapeutic way that is right for my client by using an integrated approach that will help them get the most from each session. My main modality is Person Centred but frequently incorporate CBT and relaxation techniques.

I have worked with a range of age groups including 18+ however the majority of my work is with children and young people. When working with children and young people, play provides an ideal vehicle for them to explore their feels and emotions in safe space and promote a more natural environment for them to talk. During these session I use lego, small world play and drawing.

 

I am also trained in Solihull Approach Parenting enabling me to work with parents around parenting strategies. Children’s behaviour is often how they communicate their feelings however this can often be difficult to decode. Working direct with parents gives them an understanding of their child’s behaviour and helps develop strategies and approaches to nurture the parent child relationship.

I am experienced with working with children with ASD and have also ran small groups with children around social skills, as well as supporting parents with reinforcing the new responses

Qualifications

Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling (Ad Dip Psy C)

BA(Hons) in Early Childhood Studies

Solihull Parenting Approach

Accredited Member of the National Counselling Society. 

CYPT (Children and Young Person Therapist) accreditation with the National Counselling Society
