Experience and Skills
Seeing a Psychologist can be daunting, especially for the first time. My aim is to build a relationship in which you can feel at ease but also open to the challenges that come with any change in life.
I use positive psychology principles to build hope and find solutions. I would like to help you feel brighter, more relaxed and more confident to overcome the issues that bring you to therapy. We may start with the past, but with a real focus on improving day to day experiences whilst making way for your preferred future. You should expect early progress within 3-4 sessions, and I tend to work with individuals for 8-12 sessions on average. If longer term psychotherapy is needed, we can of course plan for it.
I have over 20years experience working with adults, couples, families and also children/young people. I can help with a range of issues, to include depression, anxiety, work related stress, habit problems, grief, self-esteem, eating disorder, trauma and personality issues.
I am able to conduct full psychological and diagnostic assessments, using psychometric tools and direct observation methods where necessary. I have extensive experience as a court appointed Expert Psychologist.
I have completed accredited courses through the University of Leicester and University of Birmingham. I am a Doctor of Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy), but also have a European Certificate in Health Psychology, Post-Graduate Diploma in Family and Systemic Psychotherapy (PGDip) and Certificates in Mental Health through ongoing and continuing professional development.
